The Pros and Cons of Public Transport

Public transport - if you decide to switch to public transport, you may want to consider a few of the pros and con of the public transport system.

Pros:

·         Cost- When taking public transport the cost is substantially lower than taking your own transport such as a car, unless you are riding your bike. Riding your bike can be great way to both save money and keep fit, but the limitation to this option of transport is the changing weather, bicycles are great for nice weather, but what about the days where it's too hot or when it rains, you'll have to use another way of getting from A to B, and that would lead to your car. For my personal opinion, taking the train (public transport)  can be great, but..... yes I am adding a but ..... it can be time consuming especially when you are in a country where the trains are very slow. To think about it, the bullet trains around the world can be quite reliable and cost effective but here in my country it takes 45 minutes to get into town, where it could take me 15 minutes by car, however on the bright side taking a car would cost me around $150 a week compared to the $39 dollars I spend on my train tickets for the week.

·         Contributing to a good cause- As we know it, the world is full of industrial companies, cars, and all the fume creating machinery. With public transport we would be able to reduce the amount of pollution and be environmentally friendly. What a great start to saving the world from global warming. You can feel great about what you are doing.  Sustainability and environmental awareness are increasing in importance in today's society and with your contribution in taking public transport you can personally promote your part you are playing in creating a sustainable society.

Cons:

·         Travel routes- When planning a trip, you may come across troubles in terms of getting where you want without your own car or transport. Public transport within your community or town may not have routes to parts of the towns where you would like to go, this may be due to the demand or popularity of the area. Travel with public transport can be  great within a large city, however if you are in a small  you may have trouble getting where you want with the public transport system there, in some cases there may not be public transport at all.

·         Personal space- If you are a person who loves their own personal space you probably would not like public transport. With limited seats, crying babies, crammed spaces, the luxury of personal space will be taken away from you. On top of that It doesn't help if you are taking public transport on a summers day where everybody is all sweaty and smelly, and with limited seats, you will either stand or sit next to a smelly person (opinion from personal experience). I once sat a 1 hour ride on the train with a crying baby, but that wasn't the worst of it, my IPod just happen to run out of battery, so I had to endure a full hour ride with a crying baby.

To sum it all up, taking public transport can be great if you would like to save a bit of money and be environmentally friend, but to do that you will have to be dedicated to it, as you will have to endure the negative if you want to have the positives. Overall, I would like to say I enjoyed my train ride no crying baby or crammed train, I'll post later.... my train is at my stop.
